DECHEMA e.V.Introduction![]() DECHEMA (Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology e.V.), Frankfurt/Main is an interdisciplinary scientific society with more than 5,500 personal and institutional members (including about 500 SMEs), whose activities cover wide areas relevant to the process in-dustries. DECHEMA is dedicated to the support of R&D progress and implementation in various fields of chemical engineering, including catalysis and reaction engineering. DECHEMA’s work is supported by 70 working parties from academia, industry and authorities. This includes a subject division on catalysis and the secretariat of the competence network catalysis in Germany. Furthermore, DECHEMA is the supporting organization of the recently founded German Catalysis Society and active member of the European Federation of Catalysis Societies (EFCATS) and its international equivalent (IACS). Activities of DECHEMA include planning of R&D; project coordination and management, project evaluation, advice on policy and legislation, support for research, research in its own institute, coordination of European and national networks and projects including support of dissemination and exploitation of scientific results, organisation of exhibitions, conferences and workshops. DECHEMA organises around 50 conferences per year with over 10000 participants and offers more than 20 training courses on different topics. Coordination and support of DECHEMA’s activities is carried out by about 190 employees. The competencesThe group Research and Project Coordination of DECHEMA is very experienced in coordinating and managing European projects. DECHEMA is coordinator in several FP6 and FP7 projects, including large FP6 Integrated Projects. DECHEMA is strongly involved in the management of the ETP SusChem and has been partner in the Specific Support Action supporting SusChem. In addition to a coordination and management role, DECHEMA has particular expertise in dissemination, knowledge management and training, including the organisation of conferences, workshops and exhibitions and newsletters. DECHEMA hosts more than 50 websites including project websites and secure collaborative workspaces for information exchange and knowledge management of project consortia. The role in NEXT-GTL
The main role of DECHEMA is the management of the project (Task 6.2) including the support of the
scientific coordinator. Furthermore, DECHEMA is leader of WP4 (Process comparative evaluation and
assessment), and specifically responsible for Task 4.2 (Comparative evaluation and assessment).
In WP 5 (Dissemination, and training/education) DECHEMA is strongly involved in Task 5.1 (Dissemination,
and training/education), herein in particular responsible for the public website, and is leader of Task 5.2
