Instituto de Tecnología Química, Univ. Politécnica de Valencia
Introduction
ITQ is a joint Spanish National Research Council (CSIC)-Technical University of Valencia centre created in
1991 whose main research activity is focused on the synthesis of materials that can be used as heterogeneous
catalysts for petrochemistry and fine chemicals. The current ITQ research staff is 25 that belong in approximately
equal number to CSIC and the University of Valencia. In addition there are about 10 technical staff in charge with
experimental techniques and four persons in charge with the administrative tasks. The techniques currently
available include electron microscopy, scan tunnelling microscopy, isothermal gas adsorption, thermogravimetry,
thermoprogrammed desorption, analysis by atomic absorption spectroscopy, combustion analysis and X-ray fluorescence, powder
and crystal X-ray diffraction, spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis-NIR, FT-IR, Raman, solid-state and liquid multinuclear NMR,
EPR, MS) and high performance chromatography in gas and liquid phase.
The role in NEXT-GTL
The main role of ITQ in the project will be WP3 and, specifically Task 3.1, where novel hierarchically-organized catalysts
for methane aromatization will be developed.
