Air Liquide

Introduction

Air Liquide, Centre de Recherche Claude Delorme (CRCD), is a world-leading producer of technical & medical gases and state of the art applications of technical gases with more than 50% of its activities developed in Europe. The number of employees worldwide is over 35 000. Air Liquide handles 7 R&D Centers devoted to gas production and applications with its main Research facilities located in France (‘Claude-Delorme’ Research Centre, CRCD). During the last decade Air Liquide has successfully applied molecular modeling to complement its experimental R&D activity in material sciences coupled to its gas production, purification or storage technologies. A lot of effort has been spent on modeling sorption and transport properties of gases through membranes. The Centre is well equipped with technical apparatuses for characterizing materials used as membranes, adsorbents and catalysts with different pure gases and gas mixtures at various operating conditions. Air Liquide R&D is carried out at 7 research centers with a pool of over 850 researchers - in France, Germany, United States and Japan - and by "satellite teams" working directly at our customers' sites.

The competences

Molecular modeling capabilities (adsorption, permeation, catalysis), Materials characterization (adsorption, permeation), Gas permeation tests & demonstration.

The role in NEXT-GTL

Air Liquide will be involved in Task 1.3 related to the development and scale-up of dense ceramic membranes for O2 separation from air, based on O2- conductive materials (perovskites, YSZ, CeGaOx).
