Acktar Ltd.

Introduction

Acktar Ltd. is an industrial nanotechnology company established in 1994, with a Headquarters in Kiryat Gat – Israel and a subsidiary in Germany. Acktar manufactures and develops extremely high surface area coatings by a proprietary Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) based process. The coatings can be deposited on virtually any substrate material and reach absorptance (specular) of above 99% in UV, VIS and IR spectrum. Acktar’s coating processes are totally environmentally friendly and have been commercially deployed in capacitors, solar thermal absorbers, optical equipment, IR sensors/ systems and aerospace systems. Both coatings and coating equipment designed by Acktar, are in use by leading companies throughout the world.

The competences

Acktar can form large specific surface area metal and ceramic coatings. Controlled morphology, porosity and chemical composition of the coating allows tailoring of physical properties.

The role in NEXT-GTL

Acktar will develop and manufacture composite multilayer membranes having high selectivity for H₂ using Acktar's vacuum deposition technology and machines (WP1 – task 1.1- preparation and characterization of the novel membrane).
